Basketball Programs

Dartmouth Lakers Minor Basketball offers several divisions for minor basketball players from ages 8-17, as well as the Dartmouth Junior Lakers Basketball Program for children in Grades Primary – Two.

Divisional Play is from ages 8 to 17, and runs from U10 up to U18 – all divided by Boys and Girls teams. Each division can have more than one level of team playing, this is determined at the start of each season. All games are played within the Metro Basketball Association.

Practices are generally one night per week, held in the Dartmouth area. Practice dates and times are not published until closer to the start of the season in mid-October as we get players registered, teams arranged and know how many teams we need to book in the gyms.

Games can be played in gyms and facilities all throughout HRM. Schedules will be posted and kept updated through the MBANS website – please check their website regularly throughout the playing season.

Divisional registration fees cover one practice per week, MBA league fees, league games, referees’ fees, scorekeeper fees, league playoffs, limited insurance. Registration Fee is $280 per annual season.

Junior Lakers fees work differently and cover a shirt, basketball, gym practice time, membership to Basketball Nova Scotia, and limited insurance coverage. Fee is $80 for one 8-week session or $120 for both 8-week sessions

The costs are not covered in the registration fee (Jersey is $ 55 and shorts $ 35 ) and these are in addition to the registration fee if you do not have the current uniform. The uniform is yours to keep and reuse yearly. View more on our Uniform Policy.

This program is offered to our younger players and offers a skills and practice session once a week. The groups are co-ed. This level does not play competitive games. It is intended to teach the basics of basketball to these players new to the game.

The Junior Lakers program is offered in two sessions each year – October to December and January to March. Each session is eight weeks long.

You may register for one session (Fall or Winter) or two  sessions.  The cost for one session is $80 (8 weeks) and the cost for two sessions is $120 (16 weeks).
