Thunder Selects Basketball will be offering a NEW Elite Summer Shooting Clinic Series in Halifax for girls entering Grades 5-12.

The 60 minute sessions will be run by members of the Thunder Selects ELITE & ELITE Prep Coaching Staff.

The clinic series will focus on Shooting Form, Shooting Confidence, Footwork, Developing a Quick Release, Controlling the Flight of the Ball (arc/trajectory) & Improving Accuracy, Shooting Touch & Focus, Extending your Shooting Range, Understanding/Changing Release Points, Shooting off Screens & off the Dribble, and Attacking & Finishing.

* A shot tracking system will be used to monitor efficiency and progress.

Clinic Dates, Times, and Location:

August 10, 14, 17, 21, 24

Group 1 – 5:30-6:30pm Entering Grades 5/6

Group 2 – 6:30-7:30pm Entering Grades 7/8

Group 3 – 7:30-8:30pm Entering Grades 9-12

All sessions will take place at Citadel High School.

Limited Registration – ONLY 24 SPOTS AVAILABLE for each age group!

Cost: $75 (includes all 5 sessions). Payment can be made by email money transfer (password: basketball) or cheque made payable to Thunder Selects Basketball. Spots are guaranteed once completed registration (including payment) has been received.

The Junior Academy will consist of a curriculum provided directly from Canada Basketball. Our goal is to introduce our athletes to skills, concepts, and tactics implemented by our National Sport Organization (NSO). With a higher volume of athletes from Nova Scotia being identified and invited to attend Age Group Assessment Camps for Canada Basketball, we believe this new program can help better prepare our athletes.

The Junior Academy program will operate over four (4) weekends during the month of September, 2017.

The Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame is hosting a basketball camp August 25-27

Boys 50% full – still room for girls!

This summer, the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame is organizing its first ever Hall of Fame Basketball Camp of Excellence. This will be a high intensity 3 day camp for the young player who wants to take their game to the next level and learn the steps it will take to get there.

This camp will be a true “Nova Scotia” basketball experience!

40 boys and 40 girls, grades 7 through 9, will enjoy a “one of a kind” basketball camp. From August 25-27 on two full courts of the Canada Games Center, they will learn and put into practice essential basketball and life skills, under the guidance of the most accomplished sport personalities in the province.

Skills and drills will be the focus for the camp, but these athletes will also learn techniques to help them grow as a person. Nutrition sessions, yoga classes, strength and conditioning classes, and mental preparedness will all be part of this 3-day basketball experience.The last day of the camp will be a showcase of talent of our young athletes.

Players will also be invited for a Saturday “Pizza Party” at the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame located in the Scotiabank Centre. (All included with registration).

Each participant will receive a reversible jersey and t-shirt along with the knowledge of what it takes to play at the highest level of competition.

Camp proceeds go in support of the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame with emphasis on the Future Hall of Famers Education Program. This free education program is offered to thousands of youth across Nova Scotia in the hopes that stories of our athletes will motivate and inspire them to set goals and go after their dreams.

  There will be a girls’ basketball development skills camp this fall at Dartmouth High.  This program is for any girls interested, not specific to girls in the DHS area.   Anyone that wants to learn and improve is welcome.  The athlete’s present skill level is not important, the needs of all levels will be met by multiple coaches.  The program is being run by very experienced and certified coaches, Janet Heppell and Anton Berry.

The camp will run on Sundays, September 10, 17, 24, October 1, 15 and 22 (not on Thanksgiving weekend).
8:30 – 10:15am will be girls 10 – 12 years old (going into grades 5-7)
10:00 – 11:45am will be girls 13 – 15 years old (going into grades 8-10)
The focus of the camp will be based on Canada Basketball’s LTAD and expected skills of athletes within these specific age groups.  This includes; fundamental movement, offensive/defensive footwork, offensive skills (attacking and finishing around the net, shooting, ball handling) and fundamental team concepts and tactics (spacing, offensive/defensive rotation).
The cost for the camp is $75/athlete.

We are proud to announce we will be running the Junior Phenom Camp in August by popular request! We are thrilled to be holding our event at Saint Mary’s University! We have reserved and booked the gym and are thrilled to have this one of a kind camp in a beautiful facility.

We are now meeting with Gatorade to supply product for the whole camp and hopefully run a Gatorade FUEL Station!

We’ve had a tremendous amount of positive feedback and look forward to putting on a great camp for our rising grades 4-8 players.

On August 11th-13th we will be hosting our Phenom Camp. This three-day event will take place at Saint Mary’s University.

The schedule will be Friday: 5:30 PM-8:30 PM and Saturday and Sunday: 10 am-4:00 pm Lunch 12-1 pm.

ADDED: We are now adding matching adidas shorts for each player!

We believe in always trying to take programming to the next level. Each player will receive a full uniform and socks as well for camp.

I will be heading the camp once again, here is a brief history of my basketball accolades.

FIBA professional basketball player Imad Qahwash will be heading this three-day camp. Having played in over 50 countries around the world in less than 6 years, Imad has the experience and expertise to train and coach each camper to reach their full potential for the three days of camp. Imad just completed a professional stint in the PBA Philippines Top Division. Imad has also worked out for the Toronto Raptors of the NBA.

Our program is always committed to providing our players with the necessary training to achieve success on and off the court.

Our experienced camp staff will assist in tracking each player’s progress throughout the three-days and will make this a memorable experience! This will also be a platform for our Adidas Top 40 Camp, which is one of the top camps in Canada.
